Identifying good and bad values
Differentiating between Values and metrics
Values are the qualities we hold dear as individuals. The things by which we accustom our lives to. More like our principles.
While metrics are the things/ occurrence with who we measure the progress of our values.
Identifying good and bad values
Good values are reality based
Socially constructive
Immediate and controllable
Bad values are superstitious
Socially destructive
Not immediate and controllable
Some examples of good values are
:Honesty :innovation :vulnerability :standing up for yourself :standing up for others
:self respect :creativity :charity :humility
Some examples of bad values are
:wanting to be liked by everyone
: material success :pleasure :doing things because you feel others are doing it
:wanting to always be the center of attention
Why are they termed bad values?
These things are termed bad because when we focus our energy on them and use them to measure our self worth, we end up feeling like failures and not looking deeper into ourselves and enhancing our God given talents while accepting ourselves for who we truly are.
When we compare these two types of values, we will see that good values are the things we have complete control over.
They reflect reality and they benefit both us, our mental and physical health and our world at large
But on the other hand, bad values are those ones out our control.
The ones that make us compare ourselves with others. The ones that makes us need validation from outside forces
So in other for us to reach our goals being our authentic selves, we have to nail down good values and metrics and by doing so, the things which we so dearly want to achieve will come directly to us in the right way.
